Excellencies:
We are a group of concerned Haitians living in the Diaspora who think it is crucial to alert the world public opinion about the current situation in our country of origin. The earthquake of January 12, 2010 has destroyed the annual production of the nation by more than half and there are still people under the rubles caused by the disaster. In addition, an outbreak of cholera is spreading throughout the country. Thousands of people sheltering in unsanitary conditions under the tents are now threatened by this epidemic.
The term of the actual president, Rene Preval, will expire on February 7, 2011 and consequently election for a new government will take place on November 28, 2010. However, news coming from Haiti during the last three weeks are very disturbing. Many political groups are complaining of aggressions and intimidations of their supporters by thugs and snipers.
The convoys of at least three candidates have been attacked in broad day light. Furthermore, there are persistent rumors that the government of Mr. Preval and the electoral council are preparing a massive electoral fraud in favor of their official candidate, Mr. Jude Celestin. Jacques Edouard Alexis, former Prime Minister of Président Préval, in a televised address has warned the Haitian public about a massive distribution of arms to the fans of the official candidate, Mr. Jude Celestin. Well informed sources mention the possibility of violent attacks on the eve of the electoral process to intimidate the voters and prevent them from casting their votes in favor of the democrats opposed to the government.
We think that the upcoming ballot vote is crucial in the maintaining of political stability in our beleaguered nation. In fact, since February 2004 Haiti is under the occupation of a multinational force, which is trying to maintain peace in the country. The Haitian state of affairs constitutes a danger for its neighbors in the Caribbean basin.
Once again, we want to request the help of all human rights associations and political institutions to compel the government and the electoral council of Mr. Preval to hold free election in Haiti on November 28, 2010. Otherwise we anticipate massive political unrests and a state of instability in the Caribbean nation. Such situation risks disturbing the entire Caribbean region and having a serious impact on the economy of the neighboring countries and the trading partners of Haiti. This open letter is a warning to the leaders of the Free World and the Head of the United Nations. We hope that they will pay the best consideration to the wishes of the Haitian Community which expects to be governed as of February 7th, 2011, by a government of their choice and not by officials selected by president Préval and his allies, the leaders of INITE.

Endossement de la candidature de Mme Mirlande Manigat par la Codeco
La Coalition pour la Défense de la Constitution, Codeco d’Haïti, prend plaisir à annoncer au public haitien en général que l’assemblée de ses membres à l’unanimité a voté la résolution recommandant à la Coordination de l’Organisation Mme Mirlande Manigat, candidate du Rassemblement des Nationaux Progressistes, RDNP, comme Présidente de la République d’Haïti.
Comme annoncé par le porte parole de l’Organisation, le conseiller Juridique Me. Anthony Alouidor, sur les ondes de Radio Optimum le Jeudi 28 Octobre 2010 à l’émission Haïti Kapab animé par Monsieur Edens Débat, la Coalition pour la Défense de la Constitution, apporte un soutien total à Madame Mirlande Manigat. La Codeco invite donc les populations de la région métropolitaine de New-York à supporter Mme Manigat, à aider financièrement sa campagne et à inviter les parents et amis en Haïti à voter pour la candidate du RDNP.
Après le cataclysme du 12 Janvier 2010 la population haïtienne faisait face à la double alternative, d’adresser les besoins des sinistrés dans les camps de fortune de l’Ouest, du Sud-ouest et des Nippes ou de respecter les exigences constitutionnelles des élections de 2010. Le pouvoir politique a préféré de respecter les exigences constitutionnelles dans l’organisation des élections le 28 Novembre 2010.
La Codeco ne fait pas confiance au Conseil Electoral Provisoire et au gouvernement. Cependant elle réalise comme le Plaph, Corey, Allah, Groupe 77 et tant d’autres plateformes et mouvements politiques, tant d’autres leaders politiques crédibles, que le gouvernement Préval/Bellerive veut profiter de la position de nombreux chefs de partis qui s’abstiennent de participer aux élections pour réaliser une main mise sur le pouvoir. La Codeco est arrivée au même constat et aux mêmes conclusions du RDNP et des autres mouvements politiques qui soutiennent cette organisation que seul un front commun peut empêcher aux forces du statu quo de se maintenir au pouvoir.
Il ne faut donc pas gaspiller les voix aux élections du 28 Novembre 2010, il faut un vote responsable dans le choix d’un leader capable, valable, disposant d’une longue expérience dans les affaires politiques et maitrisant parfaitement les dossiers haïtiens.
La Coalition pour la Défense de la Constitution, Codeco d’Haïti, a donc endossé la candidature de Mme Mirlande Manigat et recommande au public haïtien de voter en faveur de la Secrétaire Générale du RDNP. Numéro 68, avec comme symbole, Kay-là. Prière d’apporter un appui financier massif au RDNP en vous adressant à la représentation du parti dans la région où vous vous trouvez, en Haïti, au Canada, aux Etats-Unis d’Amérique, en Europe, dans les Caraïbes ou en Amérique latine.
